The Oregon Trail Democrats live in the Sandy/ Hoodland/ Estacada/ Boring region of House Districts 18, 51, and 52. We are determined to make a difference in local, state, and national politics. We began as a small group of PCP’s (Democratic Precinct Committee Persons) gathered together in 2004 by Pat Ryan and Walt Trandum.
Our purpose is to work to organize and elect Democratic candidates.
Together, we are teaching ourselves how to be more effective in both influencing the voters AND influencing our elected officials about issues that are important to us. We welcome your presence, your ideas, your experience- together we can move mountains!
Oregon Trail Democrats believe strongly in the interconnection of all Americans. And we help build healthy communities right in our own neighborhoods. When issues come up for votes, you can count on our working on the side of children, elders and those with disabilities. We belong to the Sandy Chamber of Commerce and have participated in the Sandy Mountain Festival Parade and festivities. Our members serve on the school board, the library board, and are active in many ways. We give financial support to the Sandy Community/Senior Center, the Sandy Action Center and the library.
Today we are recognized around the state for our activism in putting up candidates signs (Yea for the late Dick McQeen and his cohorts!), for knocking on doors and writing cogent letters to the editor in local papers. We phone and do mailing to inform voters abot the candidates we support. And we raise the money needed to help make these things happen.

Please note: OTD does not endorse candidates in contested races in the Democratic Party primary. But we will post information about LOCAL “events” for any Democratic party candidate requested by members of OTD.
We are proud to be Oregon Trail Democrats!
Please plan on joining us on the 4th Tuesday of each month (exception: no meeting in December). We meet at 7:00 PM (6:30 social time) in The Sunset Room, next to the Clackamas County Bank, 38935 Proctor Blvd., Sandy.
